5 Of the Strangest Song Lyrics of All Time

Brewer & Shipley's "One Toke Over the Line" was an uncharacteristic 1970 hit for a duo that preferred to sing ballads. The song was singled out by Vice President Spiro Agnew as "blatant drug-culture propaganda" that "threatens to sap our national strength" because of its marijuana references; Agnew threatened FCC sanctions against radio stations that played songs that glorified or promoted illegal drug use. But Tom Shipley has said that the song hardly promotes drug use; it is in fact a cry for moderation.

New Hip Hop Album, Cool Kid by Dulcinea Detwah

Besides being just a bit smaller than a full-sized Martin or Taylor, this is a very basic, no-frills guitar. I would judge the size at, or very nearly the size of a typical 000 concert guitar, which makes it very comfortable to play. Although it does sport a solid Spruce top, there is no protective binding trim that is typically present to protect the outside edge from damage. The fretboard is ebony and the neck is a bolt-on variety that easily comes off for compact packing and traveling purposes.

The best Batman ever is in desperate need of money? Say it ain't so!

We began our marathon of musicals on Friday night by attending Rock Of Ages, a show that is going to be on Broadway for a long time!

It is the definition of a FEEL-GOOD show! Even the most jaded of theatergoers can't help but walk away from it with a smile on their face!

And, there's the big all-star cast film version coming out next year! So the whole world will be Rockin!

We first saw Rock Of Ages about 4 years ago in Los Angeles, in a production that starred our friends Laura Bell Bundy and Willam Belli, as well as the adorable Tom Lenk and awesome Dan Finnerty.

The show has come a long way since then! But the heart and soul - and rock! - of it remain the same.

And the current Broadway cast is fab!

Can't wait to see even more shows over the next week in New York!

Bring it!!!!

Molly Sims Weds Scott Stuber

Actress Molly Sims said good-bye to single life yesterday and hello to married life. She wed beau Scott Suber in an intimate ceremony in Napa Valley. Former Las Vegas star Molly Simms said I do to producer Scott Suber in front of family and close friends on Saturday night. The couple, who has been dating for a couple of years, became husband and wife in wine country. According to People.com the bride wore a dress by Marchesa and jewels by Lorraine Schwartz. Stuber popped the question to Sims last May, with a Diane von Furstenburg bauble, very nice I must say. Although it was deemed an intimate affair that doesn’t mean it was lacking in Hollywood stars. Some of the famous guests included Vince Vaughn, Josh Duhamel and of course Fergie. If you are like me you may not be entirely sure who Molly’s new husband is, well as it runs out he has produced one of my favorite movies The Break Up. His other credits include Love and Other Drugs and Role Models. They may be newlyweds now but that doesn’t mean either Moly or Scott is taking time off from their careers. Next up for the new Mrs. [...]

If there is a moment to make your move and to take Netflix's spot on the top of streaming internet dominance, it's now -- as they continually treat their customers terribly, and shareholder confidence is super low.

Enter the cofounder of Skype, Janus Friis, and his new video service called Vdio that they're testing in the UK right now!

Skype’s cofounder has apparently been quietly assembling an A-team of media and web technology experts to launch a site that seems destined to replicate the model behind their music subscription site Rdio in the video space. The new service called Vdio, which hasn’t publicly launch yet, has been kept secret for almost two years.

That's awesome, but also like it says: secretive. So what's going on with it?

Here's a list of what things that are known:

Vdio is currently being tested with a small group of users. Vdio’s Facebook app, which is necessary to sign into the service, currently lists “200 monthly active users.”

This is all about subscriptions. Fris and Zennstrom wouldn’t align Vdio closely with Rdio if the offerings weren’t somewhat similar, and they wouldn’t secretly work on a project like this if it was just another VOD rental property. It’s possible that Vdio will offer some free content, just like Rdio does now, but the end game seems to be to compete with Netflix, and not iTunes.

Vdio is an international play. The site may launch in the U.K. first, but the company is headquartered in the U.S., with a subsidiary in Luxemburg, and it already has a SVP of global licensing. I think it’s only a question of time before Vdio launches in the U.S. as well.

This will get serious. One of the biggest lessons of Joost’s demise was that you won’t compete with the big boys if you don’t have the right content. Judging from the content that’s currently teased at Vdio.com, this could be different this time around. The movies and TV shows displayed on the site come from Warner Bros., AMC, Showtime, Sony and Fox. That’s an impressive list. Sure, Netflix has tied up the U.S. rights to shows like Mad Men, but that doesn’t mean that Vdio won’t be able to scoop them up elsewhere.

The timing couldn’t be better. Netflix has been in a crisis ever since its botched attempt to separate its DVD and streaming business, and Hulu’s future seems more uncertain than ever after a proposed sale of the company didn’t go through. Many wouldn’t have given a newcomer like Vdio a chance just six months ago. But now, everything seems up for grabs.

Boom. Competition. We love it!

Skype is a huge success -- and let's be honest, if the people behind that are behind this, we're going to see a quality attempt.

Netflix had better step up their game, because at this point they're not invincible anymore.

Are U willing to try something different?

How To Choose The Best Beginner Electric Guitar For Yourself

Punk music or hardcore punk or simply hardcore are all aliases of the same genre of music that is said to have literally rocked the musical scenario everywhere in the word. Considered to be a lot heavier than the punk rock, this music genre was in the early 1980s in the United States of America and United Kingdom. Traditional hardcore has never met with as much commercial success as the fusion and sub genres of this style of music.

To massive cheers outside the courtroom and gasps inside, a guilty verdict was reached on Monday!

On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson was pronounced dead of an overdose. Over two years later and after a grueling six-week trial, the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray, has finally reached an end.

The jury turned over a GUILTY verdict in case, siding with the prosecutor, who argued Murray was a reckless physician, who put his own agenda before that of his patients. It took the jury only 16 hours to come to this conclusion.

We hope this brings closure to MJ's family and fans.

UPDATE: Murray will face sentencing on Tuesday November 29th, 2011. Prosecutor asked that he be immediately remanded, and the judge ruled in favor! He was put directly into custody without bail!

Knock on Wood Its Intro Is What Song Played Backwards?

What is the best guitar tonewood? Well, that's a little like asking about the best flavor of ice cream. Even guitars which are mass-produced can still be unique in each individual instrument, and often the type of wood, even the particular piece of tonewood used in its creation can make a difference and add various flavors to the sound.

Madonnas Homeless Brother Says He Is Not Looking For A Hand Out

Yesterday was all about the babies for David and me. No, we didn’t run out and buy one of our own … but we did get to spend the day with 2 beautiful little darlings and their parents. First up, we made our way to Silverlake to attend Audrey’s 1st birthday party. Her mother Genevieve and daddy Charlie are always so gracious to invite us to their family celebrations so we were thrilled to attend. Later in the day, we made our way to the Valley to meet for the first time little Gemma, the first borne child of our good friends Gillian and Tim. It was deffo a Baby, Baby Sunday.

Audrey’s party was a costume party so David went as bootleg Batman and I went as more bootleg Darth Vader. The little miss was so bizzy being loved by all of her guests we didn’t get a chance to snatch her away ;) Gemma was born 3 weeks ago and OMG is she the most precious, most perfect little baby ever. She is just the cutest thing. All we did for about 2 hours was stare at her. So cute. Gillian and Tim looked so great, they make new parenting look like a breeze.

We had a great day, no doubt. Today I’ll be holed up here at home. I have a lot of stuff to get done before I jet off to NYC for a few days on Wed. Bizzy Bizzy, Happy Manic Monday!!

You might think that's pretty steep, but we guarantee this kid will NEVER get behind the wheel drunk again!

Paris Hilton's younger brother Barron was sued by Fernando Telleza, a gas station attendant at a station on Pacific Coast Highway, for running him over with his car while he was drunk. At the time of the accident in 2008, Barron was not only drunk, but he was underage! Tellez's attorney claims his client has suffered "permanent disability" and has been forced to "undergo multiple surgeries and medical procedures" ever since.

As of this week, an L.A. County Superior Court jury found him guilty of the charges and he was thus order to pay $4.9 million in damages.

His attorney felt the jury was "wrong" and said so in an official statement to the press. He added that Barron has been "incredibly responsible ever since" and has proven he has grown as a person.

Just because you've learned from your mistakes doesn't mean you don't have to pay for making them. If this is the punishment your peers felt you deserved, so be it.

That’s it … the end is HERE. For real. Over. Fin. Dunzo. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 — the absolute FINAL Harry Potter film — opened in theaters here in the US last night at midnight and I was among the lucky folks were able to see it as soon as it opened nationwide. Let me just say this right off the bat … this final Harry Potter film does not disappoint. You want an epic ending, you get an epic ending. You want scenes that will make you cry your eyes out? You got it. You want the most satisfying end possible to a film franchise that has entertained and delighted audiences for a decade? Look no further … Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 delivers in spades.

The first thing I want to comment on is the 3D. Many films have been using 3D to death, oftentimes taking away from the enjoyment of the film. The Deathly Hallows is not one of those films. The 3D is used perfectly … not too much but enough to wow at key points thruout the film. Those of you hesitant to see The Deathly Hallows in 3D should reconsider. For me, the 3D really added to the experience (and the fact that the 3D glasses we got looked like Harry‘s glasses helped too). Now … for the meat of the film … the story. Because the final Harry Potter book is so epic, the movie version had to be broken into 2 films. Even still, not everything could be included … but believe me, this final Harry Potter film offers all of the key points from the book that simply had to be included. I managed to keep a dry eye for a while into the film but once Professor Minerva McGonagall ordered the suits of armor to protect Hogwart’s School, I started to lose it. I still contend that the book is better than the film but this film managed to hit the same emotional notes that the book did when I first read it. I think you’d be hard pressed to find someone say they were not happy with the way this film turned out. I loved it entirely. I didn’t want it to end …even tho, well … as with all good things … it had to end.

It is my personal opinion that JK Rowling will go down in history as one of the greatest authors of all time. Her name and stories will be remembered alongside greats like Hans Christian Andersen and the Brothers Grimm. Make no mistake about it … Rowling is a masterful storyteller. When you consider how perfectly she crafted the lore of Harry Potter, it seems easy to believe that her work will be remembered and loved for all time. Movies can never truly do books justice, I will always believe this. But Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows manages to do a freaking fantastic job of bringing the words from Rowling‘s book to life. Without any exaggeration at all, I say this final Harry Potter film is epic. And I can’t wait to see it again … and again … and again.

Have you seen the movie yet? What do y’all think? Let me know in the comments below.

Solo Jazz Guitar

Playing jazz on nylon string guitar - an overview. Jazz has been played on many different types of guitars-from acoustic steel string (Eddie Lang, Django Reinhardt) to amplified steel string (Charlie Christian being one of the first) to solid body (John McLaughlin, for example). Charlie Byrd was an early proponent of using a classical nylon string guitar to play jazz, and McLaughlin, Earl Klugh and many others have since used that kind of guitar in at least some of their work.
